ASC are a range of developmental disorders that begin in childhood and persist throughout adult life. They can cause a wide range of symptoms, one of which being impaired language and communication skills, such as delayed language development and an inability to start conversations and take part in them properly.
Wolves’ players, midfielder Dave Jones and Belgian International Geoffrey Mujangi Bia visited the school on recently, to hand over the Wolves Aid cheque of £4,910.
The money was used to buy specialist equipment called “Logan Prox Talkers”, which were designed to give increased independence in communication, to its users. This expensive equipment is the first moveable picture communication device that actually TALKS and will be used to help the pupils of Tettenhall Wood School communicate more effectively.
At a cost of £1630 each, Wolves Aid donated enough for the school to purchase 3 Logan Prox Talkers.
Head teacher of the school, Mostyn Mahoney, said the cash was a “great help”.
“This equipment gives the children easy access to communication at the touch of a button”.
