Following a sucessful application to Wolves Aid, Penn Hall Special School were awarded £20,000 which allowed them to purchase specialist equipment for their early years playground.
Penn Hall is a Wolverhampton Local Authority Community School which has 80 pupils aged 3-19 years.
The pupil’s learning needs and difficulties are supported by a specialist team of staff and equipment. The Wolves Aid funding covered the costs of building an outdoor play area for the early year’s children aged 3 to 5 with physical disabilities.
The unique accessible playground is purpose built to enable them to explore and enjoy the equipment safely. It will increase their confidence and self-esteem and helps them to develop new skills.
Designer S Parton Construction said they were really pleased with the end result and it was such a pleasure to create a distinctive design for the school.
Headteacher Dave Parry was delighted to welcome Matt Murray to officially open the playground and said: "We are thrilled to have the long history of support from Wolves and Wolves Aid. Matt is a credit to the local community and has been a star from his first days visiting the school as an apprentice to now opening the facility for us as Wolves Community Trust Ambassador."
