Lucky youngsters from Wolverhampton got to see the world’s best men’s tennis players in action at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London , and all for free.
Wolves Community Trust were presented with 50 complimentary tickets, curtsey of Barclays Spaces for Sports, who fund one of the Trust’s Social Inclusion Programmes, Energize East Park.
Youngsters from both Kickz in Bilston and Whitmore Reans joined with participants from Energize East Park to travel to the O2 Arena in London to watch Jo Wilfred Tsonga take on Mardy Fish.
Jennifer Mildenhall, Community Engagement Officer at Wolves Community Trust accompanied the young people on the trip: “The young people had a brilliant day at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, they absolutely loved it! Many thanks to Barclays Spaces for Sports for giving us this opportunity - it was a great day out.”
Since launching the UK programme in 2004 in partnership with the Football Foundation, the Barclays Spaces for Sports programme has benefitted more than half a million people in socially deprived regions. In the UK, 200 sites have been created in partnership with the Football Foundation, offering user’s access to more than 40 different sports.
